You may be an ideal candidate for our Neck liposuction if you have excess fat deposits in the neck that don’t seem to respond to improvements in diet or exercise.
To receive our Neck Liposuction Savannah patients will need to setup an initial consultation with Dr. Minton, which is the first step to any procedure. There he will discuss your health history and closely examine your neck to determine the precise changes to be made and techniques to achieve the most long-lasting and natural-looking results.
Neck liposuction is a rather simple outpatient procedure that targets excess fat in the neck area. Small incisions hidden beneath the chin or behind the ears are made then cannulas (small tubes) connected to a vacuum aspiration device remove the fat from that area.
After Neck liposuction, the incisions are usually covered with tape and a wrap dressing is applied to the neck that should be worn for 1 to 2 weeks. Dr. Minton will provide careful instructions regarding how to care for the incisions, what medications need to be taken during recovery and follow-up appointments.
In particular, you’ll want to apply cold compresses to the neck during the first 24 to 48 hours to help with swelling, and keep your head elevated at all times for the first week. Sutures will be removed a week after surgery. As time progresses, you will see visible improvements which include a younger and more contoured neck.
Neck liposuction is a relatively quick and easy procedure that usually takes about an hour.
Stitches are usually removed a week after surgery. Some initial bruising may occur but swelling is more likely to last for 7 to 10 days. Most patients can return to work and regular activity 7 to 10 days after surgery.
The patient doesn’t feel anything during neck liposuction. Post surgery, patients can experience swelling, bruising and discomfort that will steadily improve within 2 weeks. Dr. Minton can prescribe medication to address any discomfort.
Liposuction is a very common and safe treatment with very few risks or complications. Most patients will only experience slight bruising, swelling or tenderness. Dr. Minton will go over any risks during your consultation.
The incisions for a neck liposuction procedure are made in areas where they are not noticeable. Because neck lift incisions are made beneath the chin or behind the ears, they’re virtually invisible.
You will begin to see results from neck liposuction as soon as the swelling begins to subside (about 10 days after the surgery). Tightness and contouring will continue to improve over several months.
While neck liposuction permanently removes fat cells in the targeted area, a mini facelift also addresses the cheeks and area around the mouth. A nonsurgical option such as Kybella melts the unwanted fat in the neck, but the results may not be as dynamic. Dr. Minton will address any alternative options during the consultation.
Yes, some patients elect to have additional procedures while undergoing neck liposuction, such as a chin augmentation or rhinoplasty to further improve the contours of the face. Having multiple procedures at one time can limit the amount of downtime overall and provide more dramatic results, depending on the patient’s goals.
Patients who choose neck liposuction over a neck lift usually do so because they have fat deposits in that area that do not seem to respond to diet or exercise, but also already have good skin elasticity.
